Summer Events Change

June 3, 2007

We will not be having a separate time to lift this summer due to the low number of girls at max testing and at weights this off-season.

If you are committed to lifting,
as you should be, Coach Frisell has lifting times of 8,9, and 10 AM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays this summer. If you have not max tested already, you must talk to Coach Frisell for a time to test.

Open Gym times will stay the same:
June 18, 20, 25, 27 8-10 AM
July 9, 11, 16, 18, 30 5:30-7 PM

Open Gyms cost $1 to attend, may be canceled if not enough girls are attending.
Reminder: HIGH SCHOOL CAMP JULY 23rd-26th Registration due June 25th

Max Testing May 30th

May 24, 2007

In order to prepare for our summer lifting program, max testing will be on Wednesday May 30th at 2:45 PM. We will bench, squat and hang clean as well as measuring vertical jump. Make sure you max test so you can lift this summer.

Spring Workouts 2007

April 24, 2007

Starting April 23rd and going until the end of the school year, spring workouts are Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the weight room. The foundation to success next fall starts with building strength, agility, quickness, flexibility and explosiveness now in the off-season. How many volleyball players can we get in the weight room? The record so far has been 10. Can we beat it?

THANK YOU!

April 24, 2007

A Huge thank you goes out to all the parents and players that worked the concession stand during the regional qualifier over spring break. It was an excellent tournament with outstanding food! Unofficially, thanks to the new hot dog cooker….the hot dogs were rated in the top 5 of all-time best hot dogs at a volleyball event.

Next Kennedy Volleyball Fundraiser

March 17, 2007

PLAN AHEAD-March 31st and April 1st we are hosting the North Country Regional Tournament at Kennedy High School.  We will be using all 8 courts both Saturday and Sunday.  Your help is needed to sell concessions and set up and take down nets in the main gym.  Players will be signing up with Mrs. Raymond the week of March 19th at school.  Since this is during spring break, parents are encouraged to sign up to help out. Contact Barb Suapaia to sign up for a time!

Max Testing Feb 21st & 23rd

February 13, 2007

Kennedy Volleyball players should be max testing on Wednesday Feb 21st and/or Feb 23rd. After max testing, the program will be taking a break from strength training due to lack of commitment. If players still want to lift on their own they are more than welcome to do so. They will begin strength training again in April once 4th term begins.

Sign up for fundraising

February 8, 2007

February 17th and 18th is a HUGE fundraiser for the Kennedy Volleyball Booster Club. Your help is needed, especially on Sunday to sell concessions. The Saturday morning slots are already filled-so for those of you working Saturday morning….Thank you. If you are playing volleyball that weekend for Bloomington Juniors, you will be asked to help set up nets, scoretables, spectator seating, and team benches at noon on Saturday. Stop by Raymond’s room or talk to Barb Suapaia for more information. Please help! The booster club helps the volleyball program immensely so your help is greatly appreciated.

Rule #1

February 4, 2007

Rule # 1 of strength & conditioning for volleyball players is this: Don’t listen to your PE teachers. They mean well, but they cannot help you improve your volleyball performance. Lifting weights in PE does not count. I have never seen a PE class at Kennedy or Jefferson that is focused and actually works hard in the weightroom. And as mentioned above, that type of workout will not help make you a better athlete. You are fortunate to have a former Division I volleyball player as a head coach. One who had a full time strength coach for four years that designed workouts to improve Division I volleyball players. Plus you have a workout that is also designed with input from a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) which is the required certification for college strength coaches. Take advantage of someone who is providing ways for you to become a better athlete.

The workout is ready. Are you ready for the workout?

January 29, 2007

For those who have been lifting after school and those that will be starting to lift as the new semester begins, we will be in the weight room Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3-4 after school. The workout is designed to help make you a better volleyball player and more athletic.
